In 2023, after becoming a Benefit Corporation in 2021, we obtained B Corp certification, thus becoming part of a global movement of leaders acting as a catalyst for positive change.

A further milestone in the ESG process, representing the move forward from a green building transition towards a new business model, in which business becomes a positive force for the generation of economic, social and environmental value, thus inspiring the entire construction sector.

01. Moving beyond economic results

Setting objectives for the benefit of the environment and communities, and monitoring them year after year.

Results achieved:

  • Benefit Corporation, adoption of the new articles of association in 2021
  • B Corp, certification obtained in 2023
  • 10 strategic partnerships activated on the theme of sustainability

02. Intermodal transport to reduce pollution

Use of alternative means of transport, such as rail, to reduce pollution caused by road freight. 

Results achieved:

  • 2 stretches managed directly
  • 660 trains when fully operative
  • -14,900 HGV on the road
  • 220,000 tonnes of calcium carbonate and sand handled using intermodal transport (since 2006)

03. Pleasant working environment

Construction of a working environment that fosters collaboration, transparency and a sense of belonging.

Results achieved:

  • Kerakoll Safety Week, 5 days a year dedicated to the health and safety of our people, working both on the premises and remotely
  • New workspaces designed with people’s well-being in mind
  • K Program, a project for internal engagement and the co-creation of a corporate culture

  • 30% – 80% recycled plastic used in product packaging
  • 34% average recycled content in inorganic mineral products

10. Restoring, not destroying

Limiting the impoverishment of natural resources, by using scrap as often as possible. We are committed to landscape restoration, and we use energy from renewable sources on our premises.

Results achieved:

  • 70% of CO2 saved during the extraction and processing of virgin minerals, thanks to the use of recycled materials
  • 60,000 mq2 of land returned to Mi.Gra thanks to the restoration of the Serenaia ravine (LU)
  • 100% renewable energy used on Kerakoll premises

An important step to inspire the construction industry

B Corp certification – issued by the international body B Lab – recognises organisations that undertake to comply with standards in terms of social and environmental performance, as well as transparency and responsibility.

• Being a B Corp attests to a commitment to people – starting with our customers – and their health;
• It shows that our industry can also do better and help make change happen;
• It offers an alternative to people who, like Kerakoll, care about the planet and want to make a difference.

Certification Notice

“Certified B Corporation” is a trademark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organization, to companies like ours that have successfully completed the B Impact Assessment (“BIA”) and therefore meet the requirements set by B Lab for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

It is specified that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body as defined by Regulation (EU) No 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardization body as per Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012. The criteria of the BIA are distinct and independent from the harmonized standards resulting from ISO norms or other standardization bodies, and they are not ratified by national or European public institutions.
