Problem-proof tiling outside

Want to know how to get a reliable, long-lasting installation outdoors, even in wet or submerged areas?

We’ve put together a guide to a couple of Kerakoll’s systems which will give you a flawless finish every time.

On top of an existing sound substrate

Step 1: Level with Levelflex External.

This is a rapid-setting, self-levelling compound designed specifically for outdoor use. It’s engineered with our exclusive Frost Protect additives, which safeguard your work against freeze-thaw damage.

How to use it:

Application Thickness: use it from 2 mm up to 50 mm thick.
Working Time: you have a 25-minute wet edge time, so lots of time to apply and adjust it.
Time before tiling: allow 3 hours before laying tiles.
Other applications: it also works really well for wet areas and swimming pools, and as a wearing surface in areas with light to medium foot traffic.

Step 2: Fix with a suitable adhesive. Pick from our H40 or Setaflex ranges – both are formulated for external conditions.

Step 3: Grout with Fugabella Color for a grout that stands up to UV rays and frost.

Tackle Problem Substrates with Laminate No Crack

Outdoor conditions can be unpredictable, and sometimes you need to work with substrates that are still damp, or have issues like cracks, movement, or even vapour pressure from insufficient curing.

Don’t worry, our Laminate No Crack system has you covered. It even allows you to waterproof substrates with high residual humidity.

Here’s How:

Before You Begin: Check that the surface is dry and free from standing water.
Step 1: Apply a layer of your chosen H40 adhesive to the substrate.
Step 2: Lay down the Aquastop Green anti-cracking waterproof membrane.
Step 3: Seal all joins with Aquastop 120 tape combined with Aquastop Fix.
Step 4: Lay your tiles using H40 adhesives and finish off with Fugabella Color grout.

This laminated approach (adhesive, membrane, adhesive, then tiles) creates a surface with a shear strength of ≥ 1.8 N/mm² which is robust enough to handle even the toughest British weather.
